‘Glittering’ Women’s March leaves almost 400 women detained

Women gathered for a traditional Women’s March in Minsk. The meeting place was Kamarouski market. Today’s march was called “glittering”. The participants were asked to wear glitter and bring shiny things.
The women traditionally gathered for Saturday’s protest in Minsk. They spoke out against violence and torture. Many of the members wore glittery clothes and glittery makeup.
The participants of the “glittering” march passed around Kamarouka and headed towards Bangalore Square.
Near the shopping center “Evropa”, the participants of the march were surrounded by riot police and security officials in balaclavas, and detentions began. The policemen also surrounded the participants of the march and near the shopping center “Iceberg”.
The police detained the participants of the march. At 19:00, according to the HRC “Viasna”, 272 people, mostly women, were detained.
After the detentions and mass arrests, the participants of the march lined up along the Surhanava Street. The drivers supported them with honks.
According to our journalists, the security forces left, as the paddy wagons ran out of room inside. But then the paddy wagons with the security forces returned and again began to detain the participants of the peaceful procession.
